Fiber optic cable families and applications

Fiber optic cables for outdoor backbone, indoor distribution and FTTH projects. Start with the installation route, then choose the cable construction and fiber specification.

An armored outdoor cable, a building breakout cable and an FTTH drop cable solve different installation problems. Compare the relevant cable family; confirm the selected product’s datasheet before fixing the specification.

Choose the cable specification

Installation route

Define indoor, duct, direct-buried or aerial use and the installation method. Confirm the selected family is designed for that route.

Fiber specification

State the fiber count and required fiber type, such as G.652.D, G.657.A2 or OM2–OM5. Availability must be confirmed for the chosen cable family.

Construction and fire performance

Specify armor, jacket, diameter limits and the required CPR class where applicable. LSZH jacket material and CPR classification are separate requirements.

CPR class and verified documents

The product range includes B2ca, Dca and Eca constructions. UPCOM also lists Cca and Fca cable documents. Match every requested class to the exact product variant and its declaration of performance.

Cable selection questions

Can I request help before choosing a fiber type?

Yes. Provide the installation route, total length, fiber count if known and delivery country. The specification can be completed with technical support.

Does an LSZH jacket prove a CPR class?

No. Confirm the required CPR classification and the declaration of performance for the selected cable.

Request a cable quote

Open the selected product page to use its quote form. For a mixed cable schedule, send the product or construction, quantity or total length, delivery country and any specification or BOQ.

For fiber cables, add fiber count and type, jacket, armor and any required CPR class. If these are undecided, state the installation route and ask for selection support.
